The Experience Trip Reports |

Great to get out fishing this month, and with the water temperature on the rise the fishing is really starting to hot up; in particular the Coral Trout with catches on the improve.
I fished a few shoals over the last few weeks for amazing results. On one trip I had 3 clients drop over for a drift before anchoring; one pulled up a double header of 3 and 4kg Coral trout, the next pulled up a 6kg red Emperor and the other a double of an undersized red emperor and a 3kg Emperor… What a start to a great day! We caught plenty of large mouth nannygai, Cod, Trevally and more trout.
The most exciting trip was when Sue and John Joyce from Sydney joined me. We left the ramp at Lucinda around 7am and fished a few rubble patches east of Lucinda. To ensure I get my drift right before anchoring I will do 3 or 4 passes; the first drift Sue and John both hooked up! After a good battle Sue had her 3kg coral trout on the floor of the Kevlacat, and John had his 4kg Red Emperor floating next to the boat (see the photo in the photo gallery). We then anchored and the bite during the last few hours of the making tide was unreal; we caught another 3 legal red emperor, large mouth nannygai, Trout, big Golden spot Trevally, Cod, Sweetlip and Small Mouth Nannygai. With sore arms and big smiles we were back at the ramp at 1.30pm. John boasted that it was the best fishing he had done in a long while”. But the “Top Rod” for the day went to his wife Sue.
I expect the fishing over the next few months to awesome; hope you can make a trip.
